Florida Open Primaries

We’re….

IT'S TIME TO LET ALL FLORIDA VOTERS VOTE.

In order to allow NPA (independent) voters to participate in the Democratic Party primaries, the state party has to adopt a new party rule.

The County organizations need to pressure the state party to act by passing a resolution asking the State Executive Committee to act now!

Urge the Democratic Party County organization in your county to pass a resolution to the State Executive Committee calling on the Florida Democratic Party to change its rules to allow all independent (non-party affiliated voters) to vote in all Democratic primaries in 2026 and all subsequent primaries.

The Miami Dade Democratic party passed a resolution in 2019. Check out their resolution here.

You can find information on your county here.

Once you have sent a letter or email, let us know by emailing cstewart@openprimaries.org.

Let’s flood social media with posts demanding the right to vote in the primaries. We have been denied the right to vote for too long! This year, the Florida Democratic Party is considering opening their primaries to the 3.4 million independent voters.

Independent Floridians are speaking out and demanding full voting rights. We’re urging the Florida Democratic Party to open their primaries this year.

One thing we are up against is that party leaders, the media, elected officials and the public don’t know who independents are. They also don’t know what Floridians in general think about the proposal under consideration to open the Democratic Party Primaries.

So, we’re telling our stories.

Take a moment to fill out our questionnaire and share a photo.
